@ Damo / JoeGTi  a bit of advice ? - how have you found Irish Dealers -   are they flexible on price and what level of discount do you think is possible for cash purchases

I was chatting him there and he said he's stretched already to get a Mk6 so I expect he'd be wasting your time looking at it. I'm in the same boat as you in that I'll be putting my car up for sale for a june sale so I can take delivery on july 1st. The straight price discount is worth trying to sell private in my case anyway.

I'm getting what I think is a strong price for my 132 GTI. They know me well and my car is mint. It's an easy sell for them. I did try another dealer and he was nowhere close.
I'm not exactly sure what kind of straight deal discounts there are. I asked my guy and he said "around 2k" on the R.
@Damo, what sort of discounts on a straight deal were you quoted?

With a sharper mind this morning, I've stopped mixing my savings and add on costs up to realise that adding the Tech Pack (in lieu of my current standard DNS + voice activation), will give me DNS Pro for a mere £370 more.

It's a no brainer

No brainer, I totally agree.

Regarding the extra cost, you are correct it is £370 when the 5.8" DNS with Voice Control is factored in and £420 when the 6.5" DNS with Voice Control is factored in, as the 6.5" DNS is £50 cheaper than the 5.8" DNS. Crazy.

Jealous that this was not available when I ordered my car. My only consolation is that I got a very good 3 year lease deal, never to be repeated I am told.

Very nice  You are even worse than me then for changing cars frequently  Will you miss the boot space in the Octavia?

If I was to sell privately (and assuming then I'd get ~2k off the R on a straight deal), I'd need at least 27.5k just to come out the same way! So to make it worth my while at all I'd need 28-29k on a private sale and I can't see there being many punters out there willing to part with that money on a private sale. You might find likewise unless you get lucky and someone knows your car...

I needed the boot when my kids were small but barely use it now so looking forward to getting back in a golf. Ill Defo try sell the car but I don't expect too many willing to pay the money I'll need.

VW options pricing structure is very odd.

Your cheap  'never to be repeated cheap lease deal' will never be repeated until the next 'never to be repeated cheap lease deal', which I hope for your sake will be a very long time

Ha, ha.

I'll keep believing it as it helps not having the luck to spec a Tech Pack a bit more palatable. I've got 3 years with this car and will just have to accept a measly 5.8" whilst you will be enjoying an enormous 8".

Life's not fair.
