The 8" DNS Pro also has a DVD drive as well as Voice Control. The 6.5" DNS won't have Voice Control or a DVD Drive, though it has a CD drive. If you wish to watch movies in your car (how sad is that eh?) then go with the DNS Pro.
I have found that listening to a CD on a CD/DVD drive produces worse sound quality than from a dedicated CD drive. This is the case with both home and in-car systems.
The decision is wholly yours. Save £420 and get a smaller screen without a CD/DVD drive, or spend this amount and get a bigger screen, a CD/DVD drive but worse sound quality with a music CD.
Agree about the reduced sound quality of CDs on a DVD drive but tbh I always just listen via my iPod these days (yeah I know the sound quality is crap) but I've become lazy and can't be bothered with CDs anymore

Price aside for a moment, iniitially the catalyst for considering the Tech Pack was the high res screen. The 6.5" screen would give me that BUT, now I've had time to consider it, I'll admit I'm swayed by aesthetics and think a the bigger screen would just look better in the centre space as Mr Savage says, and if it makes more of the rear view cam, then good. Additionally it would be more of an aappreciable difference over my current system (not nav but RCD510). If it was costing me £1k+ more then no, but at £420, yeah I think so.
Anyway it could be a mute point if VWs info proves to be wrong. Over to the dealer....
