So i love the GTI....

Picked it up today... had more miles than advertised though hmmm.... advertised at 36k... but had 39.5k.... My only gripe though!!

Nice one.  Did you get price knocked down for the higher mileage?

Pics??

Hmmm no, but im happy with all the extras i got over what mine had. I went back in and asked him why it had higher mileage than advertised and he was said 'I'll go find the business manager' 2 mins later came back down and said he couldnt find him... its a little bit annoying, but i suppose 40k miles on a car these days aint too bad... is it? :S.

Will post some pics tomorrow... I need new alloys though... there rank haha. But i love the engine!!

Welcome to the "World of car salesmen!" I like it when the front man (salesman) goes back and forward to the business manager, he'll always find him then! when your trying to negotiate a better deal. Obviously he either cant be trusted to do the deal by himself
Audi S1 gone, awaiting 1.5tsi r-line, pan roof, led lights front and rear, active dash, 18" jurva alloys and a dealer fitted Oettinger roof spoiler in tornado red.

Ah such cretins sometimes, but im happy with it, pissed i didnt notice that folding mirrors weren't standard though as they dont come on my GTI haha. Is there a page anywhere which shows me how to change the interior LED's and where to get them? Want this to be my first mod, going to change them to red... then carbonio intake... then alloys... then xenons...

Re LEDs info, check this recent thread http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=270859.msg2481815#msg2481815

But in a nutshell:

Link to a good fitting thread:
http://www.vwgolf.net.au/showthread.php?8502-DIY-Interior-Lights-Install-MKVI-Golf-lt-lt-lt-PICTURE-INTENSIVE-gt-gt-gt

Bulbs required:
Vanity lights 36mm festoon (3 or 6 smd)
Map lights front and rear 501 T10 W5W (get the shorter ones otherwise they touch the light cover)
Glovebox  501 T10 W5W
Driver footwell  501 T10 W5W
Boot festoon 42mm

They have polarity and will only work if polarity is correct, so if they don't work at first, turn them around.  Interior lights are not monitored so won't throw up errors but just get any of the canbus error free one from ebay.

These 501s are decent

It's not that he can't be trusted, it's so that he isn't the one saying "no". It's a ploy as it's easier for the salesman to say "no", when he say's it's not really him saying "no". If the deal's not going the way I'd like, I insist negotiations go no further until the man who is supposedly making the decisions comes out of hiding.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Emailed VW today after finding another problem on it. Not the best at these sorts of emails but this is what i said anyway... Any advice on how i could go about this? yes i should of spotted all these problems on the day but sometimes you just miss things.. :(

Hi Adam,

Couldn't be bothered driving back down after this but basically, the car pulls massively to the left and is actually pretty scary to drive at speeds of over 70mph in (as i found out on the motorway), not only this, but the electronic wing mirror adjustment dial is completely shot, i can't select the options (Left or Right), as the dial sticks in between them. This will need wheel alignment and probably a trip to my local VAG dealer.

Now both of these problems as well as the fact that you sold me the car with 3800 miles more on it than was advertised have honestly left me feeling somewhat annoyed. Although i enjoyed our chats about remapping etc and S4 4.2Litre V8's... I would of hoped that you could of told me of these problems!!

Now i really like the car, but feel as though i've had my leg pulled abit here in terms of dealer to customer honesty, therefore for obvious reasons my customer satisfaction as of right now is rather low and am for the first time disappointed in the VW group.

I would appreciate it, as a gesture of good faith if you down at Vindis VW in Bedford either compensate me back for these issues (Seeing as if i part ex'd my car with almost 4000 miles more on it, you'd offer me significantly less), or allow me to resolve the problems myself and at my own expense, and then photocopy the receipts and send you these which whereafter you can reimburse me the appropriate amount. If neither of these options are for you, then i will either pursue further action or i'll be using my 30 day exchange offer!!!

Hope to hear back from you ASAP.

Regards, Harry Norman.

Sorry to hear of your troubles with the car.  You've given them a number of options regarding rectification of said issues to your satisfaction, so it's a case of waiting for their response.  If no joy, then you have the option of handing it back and walking away, there'll be other cars out there.

Is it a VW Das WeltAuto Approved Used car with an VW Warranty (12 months)?

I must say, I wouldn't have let the matter of the inaccurate mileage go from the off.  It doesn't inspire confidence or trust.

Never start a complaint email with the words "Couldn't be bothered..."

Yeah but currently there are no GTI's in a similar price bracket to what mine is... so there'd be nothing to exchange for.
I shouldnt have really, he just replied 'well we can't undo the mileage', hah yeah i shouldnt have, but it was a 3 hour drive which he knew about so im sure he'll understand... he was only 21 anyway... just trying to address the stereotype ;).

And yes it's under the 12 month warranty.

I guess im going to have to start practicing my rights to the Sales of Goods Act 1979 etc
