please sign this petition to stop road resurfacing with stones!

It's not something that's used within the confines of towns and villages but rather where it's needed. Roads with poor drainage, others that suffer with cracking. It prolongs the lifespan of the surface underneath. The only negative is the loose gravel for upto 8 weeks, but it's hardly a hindrance. Most will have a 20mph limit until most have settled.

Now you are just making stuff up as well as moaning about people moaning, all the country roads round where i work & live are done with stones, thats why i was so surpised they didn't do this one section the same as all the other roads !

So what exactly have i supposedly made up and i'm certainly not moaning at anyone or anything. They don't use it in villages, seems to be the normality up here. No need for the bad attitude. Just defending what is actually a good way of doing things and pointing out that stonechips to cars is not a sole valid reason for a petition against it.

It's like covering rust up with filler on a car, it doesn't fix the problem just cover it up for later. Complete waste of time and money.
I can't imagine how much the council gets charged for this nonsense.

When is riding a bike ever safe? Can only assume the reduced speed on bitumen / loose chippings roads would render them safer than average.

You assume wrongly, massive loss of traction, because dangerous to break, accelerate and corner. And I'm not on about hooning it, within speed limits etc. You also get battered with stones off other cars etc

And to who said go another route, yeah I agree and no issue with that as such. But when your out on a ride in the country side and don't know it will be there it can't always be avoided. Round here as well lots of villages have only one route through,  so avoiding one road could take 15+ miles easily to avoid a small stretch of road

To begin with maybe, but after the settling period your not going to get hit with stones. Alot of these dressed roads would have not been sutable for bikes to begin with. Pot holes, no centre line, heavy agricultural traffic etc etc.
