Warranty work
« on: 03 April 2014, 22:31 »
Hello took my car to the dealer today for some warranty work
Noise/creaking from steering/ front suspension fault cured by re fitting protective front gaiters on front shock absorbers .misfire at idle/brake assist fault all due to a software upgrade which took 4 hours to do the software upgrade all seems well at the moment.

Interesting when did you originally get the software update that caused the issues Saha?

Had rear wheel replaced yesterday due to corrosion (white worm).

Had wiper arms replaced when car was 1 week old.

Going back in next week for rear door weather seal (photos below). The front door seal has been wearing the rear seal and now it is actually pulling it away and under the front door frame. Hopefully you can see from the photo where the seal is tucked under between the gloss facias.

Dash vibrates when it sport mode also but short of pulling the dash out (no way is that happening) I'm just gonna have to suck it up. The most positive thing to come out of all this is that I no longer give a sh1t about this filthy little tank and no longer get frustrated by stone chips or anything else that seemed like a such a big deal a few months ago.

F@ck1n hate this car at the moment.

Fabio: Looks like your front door has dropped back a bit on its hinges. I had the same thing which was fixed a few days ago. There was a tiny snagging of the rear rubber on the front door, and the front rubber on the back door, at the top of both doors. Your doors look much closer together than mine were, and my rubbers suffered no damage.

We all buy for German build quality, but ironically, the best screwed together VW I ever had was a Scirocco built in Portugal. I had 2 one was only in for one issue, and the other never saw any warranty work. I had creaky rear tailgate on both, which was a 5 min DIY fix.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Yes, diagnosis is that drivers door has indeed moved back on its hinges. VW service can't do this as to undo the door bolts will crack the paint voiding the corrosion warranty, therefore the car has to go to an approved bodyshop for 2 days this week so they can do the whole job of re-aligning both doors, fitting seal and re-painting hinges and bolts etc...

I had an infuriating buzzing noise from the dashboard when in sport mode. The car was in the dealeship 3 times before it was finally sorted. If it's the same as mine then the problem is a lack of soundproofing round the sound actuator. Mine has now been noise freer for the past three weeks and hopefully it stays that way.

Interesting - mine was in for 3 hours, but the rubber seal was undamaged on mine and it was a quick adjustment of the hinges - i'd better check the paint around there! My rubbers were only just catching, it was a tiny overlap, yours looked at lot worse on the above photos.

So far is having the gaitors tied up so not wrap up on themselves and make that awful groaning noise and now the door side reflector has disappeared! obviously just fallen off somewhere, maybe due to faulty retainer? but be getting that sorted this week and will dispute heavily if not honoured under warranty no matter how small item, it was definitely not knocked etc and even if was should not just fall of anyway.

I read more and more of these mk7 posts that just scream poor build quality.  I think the mk6 will be staying for even longer, maybe until the mk8 comes out.
