Kumho Tyres...Mitchelin tyres..

In process of buying a mk6 and the dealer I believe has put some kumhos on the back two tyres since I purchased it..(originally all mitchelins) Are they a okay ish low budget tyre or should I be telling them to get Mitchelins back on? The dealer argued briefly that they were a like for like and its what volkswagon as a brand use..

Are you saying  that you bought it and since you did the dealer put cheap cr@p tyres on? I'd be telling them where to go, and tell them you want decent tyres on either standard GTI fit or matching the front.

I suppose where you bought it from will decide how far you get, but if it's VW I'd be telling them it's a deal breaker and see how far you get.

yerh!  cheers mate!  I purchased the car and they said while ago when i first viewed it that if tyres were under 3mil then would swap like for like tyre. The dealer argued briefly that by the ratings these kumhos are "like for like"

I wont!  I have already purchased the car just havent taken delivery yet. it was getting serviced when they have changed them. luckily i spotted them when i was up the garage yesterday just popping in for a look on how it was coming along! however he argued that tyres now have these ratings like washers etc... and the ratings of these kumhos were all well and good and matched the mitchelin

Just read a couple of reviews on kumho tyres and people rate them.  I don't know what spec tyre you have but they aren't that cheap either.

you read reviews on the gti's? I searched google and found people slating them and some saying there okay.  either way i stand by "you get what you pay for" and mitchelins being much more expensive i would prefer them on.. unfortunantly i didnt find out what type just the brand. :\

I had michelins on my first mk6 gti and they got replaced on the front before the car had 10000 miles on it I did replace with michelins again wanting to keep all four tyres the same make. The one I have know has conti's on it and if I had my choice this is what I would have fitted.  I can understand your not chuffed with what the dealer has supplied go in speak to them see what can be done

It does mention that Kumho tyres are supplied as original equipment to vehicle brands such as VW and Mercedes, although I must admit, I'd be pretty disappointed if I found these had been fitted on my car when I took delivery.
