Kumho Tyres...Mitchelin tyres..

Having had a pair of arrow speeds on the back and falkens on the front when I bought my car. I'm never gonna buy anything but the best I can afford. I've literally only just now got a full set of Goodyear eagle F1's after having the car 18 months. The difference is vast.

Since the rubber is the only thing keeping you in contact with the road, stick to your guns and tell them you want michelins back on.

Make it clear to them that your interpretation and expectation of 'like for like replacement'' is replacement with the same make of tyre, especially as it would have left the factory with 4 matching tyres, and that this influenced your decision to go ahead and purchase the car.  They'll no doubt argue it but if you put up a convincing argument, I bet they'll cave.

Seconded and thirded!! My mate had goodyear he said they transformed the car i'm running fslken and vredstein at the mo but getting goodyear next

As it is an Approved Used car, make sure it comes with all the right bits. They are often missing mats, the bottle opener and USB and iphone media leads. Without them, the car is not complete, which it should be if it's being sold as 'Approved Used'.

When I went to collect my Golf, it had no mats in it. They told me it was a used car and the previous owner had taken them out, so that was that. I told them that they should be there and the car was not complete without them. They could tell I wasn't going to be fobbed off, so went and got me a set from parts.

UPDATE

hi all, update of the situation. I got in contact with VW customer care and they have looked into the matter. obviously not letting the situation lie and stating my concern over the budget tyre.. Overall got two new michelins arriving at my local dealer saturday to be fiitted!  very good work from VW! but something that shouldn't have even cropped up?  its the tight world we live in!
