Quite like the look of that mazda 6 mps ,

Ibiza cupra I find it hard to get a low millage one in good condition

I used to like the skodas but they don't appeal to me anymore

I'm going to go drive a civic this weekend and see if I can find a mps aswell

But got some bad news today that honda are having another job cut at the factory next month so not sure if I can afford a new car if that happens but still continuing my search as of yet

Mate - go for the MPS, it's a complete animal. You won't be disappointed. Low insurance too considering the power.

Only really two things to watch out for with them - some suffer VVT issues. Very easy to diagnose, simply start cold with bonnet open and windows open and listen for what sounds like a chain Hitting plastic. If that's the case, it's got VVT issues. The sound lasts about 1-2 seconds and will cost around 600-700 to fix at somewhere like totalMPS. It's a rare issue though.

Second is a smokey turbo. Idle it for 10 minutes, if it's smoking then walk away. Sign of it not being looked after/cooled down/warmed up.

Other than that, try are totally bonkers quick and so much fun. I have a 3MPS and it's by far the best car choice I've ever made. The power delivery hits like a sledge hammer.
they are far from a complete animal

For the price per BHP they're practically a T-Rex mate.

Decent AWD system, 2.3 DISI turbo and 260 bhp in a modern comfortable car - really no arguing there.

Obviously, it's no RS6, but for the price and reliability I don't think it's easy to beat.

My 3 is an animal. Try flooring that in the wet and going straight. Torque steer... That's where AWD comes into it's own.

So is any car really, but the stringent maintenance schedule mounts up in costs and is a bi too much (IMO) for a daily. I actually love the cars and even considered them but for me the MPS was a better overall package and far more forgiving on the maintenance side of things.

To each there own, but for the price, age, mileage, performance and reliability, you'll be hard pushed to find a better car than the 6MPS

Until you get it serviced or repaired by Mazda, most smaller garages will not touch them, we used to run standard Mazda 6's in work and the service costs were bonkers.

Mazda 3 is Ford Focus underneath btw and can be cheaper to run, the one big issue with the Mazda 6 is that they rust, I looked at a few 07 plates last year and they were all rotten on the rear arches and sills.

Go for a Passat!

Like my 1.8t and a trip to Rtech! That gives you 200bhp!  :smug:

Yea I still would like to maintain 30 mpg when I i occasionally drive carefully ,

I wouldn't say no to a fast saloon to be fair just the cupra r caught my eye and that got me looking at hot hatches

Dont forget about the bmw vanos system.  (Cam timing) the 3.0 m3 is single vanos and 280bhp the 3.2 m3 is dual vanos and 320bhp. First stage is at 2500rpm then its at 5000rpm. You can feel two kicks as the cam timing changes. So basically if you keep it below 2500rpm its super efficient. And with 6th gear being really long (190mph) its not hard to keep it below 2500rpm.
When I bought it the previous owner averaged 41mpg. I think thats awesome from a straight six 3.2.
ive got it above 40 many times when taking it easy.

If you service them yourself its not too expensive.  Ive only spent a lot on mine because I plan on keeping it so been buying genuine parts to get it in mint condition.
