K04's aren't a waste of time imo,
You could do a K04 conversion for half of what a K300 costs and still have money for the map.

K04 conversions are good value for money.

My LCR made 275bhp@ Badger5, Standard Ko4, Standard exhaust/downpipe and Standard coolers.

It was de-tuned to 262 whilst I sort a few bits and add some extra's

You can't get a decent k04, stainless manifold and downpipe for less then £450 really which yeah I know is £300 less then a k300 but you have no idea how long the k04 will last and then you might need to rebuild it etc and also will want to uprate the actuator

If you get a k300 you know it's gonna be 100% and last a long time

I agree with you but some people are not able or want to spend £750-£800 on just a turbo,
The trusty K04 shouldn't be ruled out as a good conversion. Stainless manifold isn't really needed, the cast is Ok.

For those trying to achieve a good power upgrade on a budget should consider it,

270-280bhp is achievable and will more than enough for most coming from a standard or stage1 K03s car.

Plenty of good K04's out there, Ill be selling one just after xmas.

Dans turbo's are great, infact he is building my K04 right now, But not within every ones budget.

I feel they shouldn't be steered away from going K04, It's a great conversion and very do-able on a tightish budget.

And if budget is no problem just go with Dans K04 Hybrid which is breaking 330 which cost less than the k300

get rid if the 4bar for for a standard 3 bar

+1 on this.

mate of mine made the error of thinking a 4bar fuel pump and reg means more petrol in the engine, means more power & any unburnt fuel out the back will egnite and you will get bigger flames.

anyway his car is now being broken for spares or repaire after the over fueling caused one of his pistons to go. he litterally has 3.5 pistons :D

(also if anyone wants anything from a ibiza cupra let me know. full engine rebuild a year ago ish, few things done to it)

just intercooler and remap (and other supporting mods) will see 200 bhp mate, my ARZ on stage one with just air filter and recirc valve saw 191 bhp, so air filter, exhaust etc will see 200... that's gonna be the cheapest and easiest way

2000 GTI 1.8t ARZ, S2000 filter, DSG intake, Forge 007 dv, Catch can, R-tech custom remap, 3" Supersize Silicone TIP, Powerflex dog bone, 'The Beast' FMIC, Ultimate delete, LCR fuel pump, 3" Turbo back, K03 hybrid, Ported Manifold, S3 injectors, 80mm maf = 280bhp 270lbft

It most likely won't dude as the k03 will max out as it just can't flow enough air.

Will take the 4 bar reg out this weekend then. Out of my comfort zone with these 1.8t. Always had 16v and vr6 engines before and I know where I stand with them.
