Keyless - locking issue.
« on: 26 November 2013, 18:39 »
Anyone with keyless had any difficulty getting the car to lock when touching the handle? I get a dash message about 'safe lock' and the handle often doesn't respond. Opening is fine and works first time.

Safelock has nothing to do with the keyless system. We all get that message. It just means that the car will deadlock and anyone inside won't be able to get out.

Ah, ok. Any clues on the handle issue? It ought to lock with a light touch but certainly isn't doing so. Maybe a trip to the dealer is needed.

Is it not working full stop? Mine very very occasionally doesn't lock but when this happens I just open and close the door and try again, this tends to work. Silly question, but are you making sure the doors are properly closed as they need a bit of a slam to shut them properly.

Yeah, doors are shut properly. I have tried opening and re shutting and this does work, it just defeats the purpose and makes you look a bit daft when you can just use the fob

I think it's just one of those things unfortunately. Thankfully it happens very rarely as if the sensor is not picking up your hand but I've no reason to suspect there is anything wrong with it

Showed my brother in law the car the other day. Said that the car was coded to me, and will only open with my hand. "A bit like James Bond's gun in skyfall"
Had the fob in my pocket, every time I tried obviously it worked. Every time he tried I stood back a little.
Didn't work, and he got increasingly confused as to how it was happening.

Who said keyless entry can't be fun eh?

Try swiping your finger along the handle slot rather than tapping it - I find that works well.
