Front brake hose fit golf GTI 8V 1992

Hi everyone, I am having a problem finding the correct front brake hoses for my Golf GTI 8V . My car is a one of the last made J plate 1992. I left the car with the garage to fit. They have phoned to say the hose supplied will not fit at the caliper end. Not quite sure what they mean they described the caliper as flat and the house being flanged (or the other way round). They have phoned around and have said that the hose and or caliper is unique to the engine code. I am away from home at the moment so do not have the chassis number and engine code. My question is, has anyone come up against this problem before and of so any idea where I can get the part as VW cant help.

Are the calipers stock items? Did you supply the hoses?

You may be getting a mk3 hose if you quote the year as 92. Make sure you quote the chassis number or at least ask for a 90/91 hose. That being as long as you have stock calipers

I have been away so left it with the garage. They have phoned to say that there is a hose unique to this engine code that was particular to just a small number of the late MK2s. Yhey had been told this by suppliers who sya that were aware of this issue. They were talking about having a custom made hose, that cant be right ? Wanted to know if anyone had heard of this issue. If not, it may not be accurate. If nonone on here has hear of it then I have either been supplied the wrong part or the calipers are not factory ?

If your car is a late run out 8v then it potentially has the 16v 256mm brake setup.

I have a November 91 8v and that has the usual 238mm brakes so I would think you would have the same, if they have'nt been changed. I fitted a new flexy hose on the front of mine 3 or 4 years ago and I don't recall any issues.

Thanks , this could be a simple case of being sold the wrong part ? Will take the hose off and provide a pic if I cant sort it out. I am relying on the garage telling me the tale, will speak to them in the morning and see if I can solve it.

I think you may have been sold the wrong part. I've checked and the part no is the same on all 239mm setups from 1979-1992!

Thanks Ben, do you have a picture you could send me of the part so I can compare, I have spoken to all the motor factors locally and they cant find me the right part.
