Front brake hose fit golf GTI 8V 1992

This is a Meyle hose, concave at the end with a large hole...

Hi Ben tried to phone you but you were busy. I spoke to one of your colleagues who says there is only one hose available and that it would take a cpl of months to look into the issue with suppliers. The Meyle one has the same part number but as you can see is different fit. Not sure where to go from here and thoughts ?

Sorry capri green, i've been out on the road this afternoon. From what I can see by looking at a caliper we have on the shelf here, the actual sealing of the hose comes from the small tapered edge around the outside of the the hose end (and the fine thread itself helps seal). Therefore it shouldn't technically matter which hose you fit, I would suggest fitting a matching pair just to ensure you don't get a brake imbalance.

Tis a shame we only had one ATE hose left though.

Hi Ben, thanks for taking the time to help. I have obtained the correct hoses from Eurocarparts they are the same fitting as the ATE and made by pagid. I have discussed again with the garage and they are of the opinion that the the difference is essential for them to fit? I have not seen the caliper so cant explain more at the moment so will reserve judgement.

 I have run a check for a 1990 gti with eurocarparts and that shows the same part number as my 1992 so it may well be that both hoses will fit. If that's the case then I just wonder why they have slightly different fittings? If it was not a potential safety issue I would not be looking in so much detail.

Fit them. If they dont seal then they wont be able to bleed them so you wont actually have to drive to test

the likes of goodridge braided hoses only do one type for mk2 golf gti's for all caliper types, the only difference in factory hoses is the length of hose on front calipers

The relief on the tip gives you more contact pressure so should seal off easier than trying to seal over a bigger land.
It will also take a compression fitting to hard pipe hence the bigger hole, just a std hydraulic fitting
