Depends on the insurance company. When I was renewing in September one company valued my mk3 automatic at £800 (i am not joking) while another company valued it at £215. Realistically it will be in the middle I think at around £350-500? But one on ebay recently went for £155 with 5 1/2 months of tax so for free almost. Like anything -in the eye of the beholder...

That is crazy as Breakers are paying £250 for any car!

I hope mk3s go up in value, my 16v might be worth what I paid for it one day......

I saw it on ebay and it did need a bit of bodywork sorting (about £600 retail worth I was told!), still a good buy if you know/can weld and paint

No MK3 golf is ever going to be considered a true classic car, end of.

He'll never get anywhere near the asking price for it.

This is the most stupid reply on the page

sorry mate but people would have said the same about the mass produced Escort mk1, and mk2 for that matter, now look... look hat they are worth and they are now a desirable classic

rewind 15 years and this wasn't the case

Every dog has its day..  but its the ones that look original that will shine and non of these stupid smothed out things

price on that Vr is a bit optimistic in the current market tho

I prefer the look of the mk3 gti compared to the mk4...looks cooler and more old school.

Never presonally drove the VR6, but my mate says it was a dream. (has recently put the lump into a mk2 golf).

But the VR6 does look badass though and the link to the piston heads ad looked mint. If I had that kind of money lying around, I would probs get it!

Yes ive put it on ebay and it sold for £620 but guy never showed so 2nd chance offered it to a guy whos collecting tonight for £550. Hes and welder and his mate is a sprayer so hoping it gets done properly. To be honest i could have broken it for alot more but didn't have the heart to do it.

With the tax, mot and insurance all ending this month i didn't really have the funds to do it so putting the money i would have spent on something else.

Looking at this eBay ad: click me, some people think the VR6 will be sought after...

I think cars from an era may become desirable, but only the premium or sportier models, such as the vr6. Look at the Astra Gsi from the 90's, not many clean un molested ones about, could see though's becoming sought after.

Think a lot of this comes down to personal taste on what is and isn't considered a future classic-that's something that is quite subjective.
