Vr6 - Future classic?
« on: 14 October 2013, 16:50 »
I've been looking at this a lot lately. I would of had the money to buy this a month or two ago but due to family problems my saving have been severely dented! lol.

Anyways how steep does the price seem on this to people?

I'm not particularly saying I'm looking to but it or anything I just keep pondering if a few years down the line this would have been a good investment to make!

I could think of other classics I would rather have for that money. I really wanted a VR6 a couple years ago but after driving a few it would beyond last on my list. He gets an A for the write up though lol

If that vr6 is as mint and original as the seller says then its worth every penny and would hold that value and appreciate if kept it that condition. Same can be said for alot of similar speced cars getting on for 20 year old. The vr6 will become a future classic considering the amount that have been fannied about with or scrapped due to rust. The narrow angle 6 cylinder is also one of the best engines from that era also and no other hatchback came with such large lumps up front.

Just telling it how it is mate. Bought and sold a few old classics in my time and know how it works. Yeah mk3's aint the best of cars, but eventually good ones will begin to rise in value. Not just vr6's. But I think the vr will become the more desirable classic over time.

there was a mystic blue one on ebay with 58,000 on it but it was auto with grey leather and started at £950.Got no bids after listing 3 times.

Personally i think it will be a long long time before any mk3 is worth an interesting amount and in reality it would be the earlier one's that command a good price as there are less exceptional early one's around than the later one's.Limited editions would be the exception of course subject to mileage, condition, history etc.

Value always depends on numbers produced.Mk3's were made in vast amounts like many other 90' cars. The fact that they are so reliable is also their downfall as far as investment is concerned.

No MK3 golf is ever going to be considered a true classic car, end of.

He'll never get anywhere near the asking price for it.

If that was  Mk2 then it would be  totally different matter but higher price.
