which cable do you mean? The cable from the amp to the speakers or the cable from the stereo to the amp? or even the power cable?

Use oxygen free for both mate. Thick stuff for the sub and not so thick stuff for the speakers. Bit vague i know but i cant be bothered to check what the guage size is. Will have a look in a mo. P.S where then scanned pages for the 20V T conversion? Hey hey! I really wanna do the conversion now as i got thrashed by one over the weekend. They dont half bloody shift!

I'd use
10 gauge for your sub
14 gauge for the other speakers
0 gauge power and earth cables to the amps via a distribution block

remember to earth your battery with 0 gauge too!

same goes for powering a 200 watt amp??

0 guage cable sounds big, how do you run that to your boot???

lol. in the edge down the sill. it does go. if you're only running a little amp go for 8 gauge then. the bigger the better though when it comes to power cable

soory to sound numb but why do you need such a heavy duty cable for an item running 200 watts from 12v? Domestic electricity (eg hoover!) runs at 1000w on 240 volts on smaller diameter cable??

Never mind I've just worked it out!

A domestic hoover at 1200 watts (240v) draws 5 amps!
a 200 watt amp at only 12volts draw 16 amps, hence the need for bigger cables!!!

No wonder you need bigger batteries and alternators to run everything!!!

lol
I was about to explain that too!
I've run a MTX 1501D amp in my car that requires 0 gauge cable run into it! it says on the instuctions this amp can draw in exess of 150 amps! my alternator is only 120A!
I ran it pretty much flat out all day at a show no trouble running 2 15"ers :D
