Any links to the guides mentioned?

https://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=283174.0

The pics in the guide sub-linked within that topic are dead so I also used this Youtube vid just to get an idea of how to access (not full disassembly), bearing in mind that car's LHD so the wipers are mirrored meaning I could only get the right panel out.

cleared handbrake faults. Faults cleared  handbrake toggled off/on and it is now happy, but can't be doing this every time I get in it...
So looks like I've got some investigations to do.

Left had side handbrake is failing to release properly. No heat getting generated so don't think it is sticking. Hopefully motor just not releasing quickly enough..

Swapped over to summer wheels and whilst doing it, removed all arch liners and cleaned out. Still waiting on the delivery of my handbrake motor...

What have I done today? I have decided, (after all and after much agonising), to keep my GTI and invest.

So, booked in for a ceramic detail to top up the one I had done 2 yrs ago and tomorrow will book first replacement of front discs and pads after 50k.

I had the backs done 6 m ago as I knew they were an MOT advisory. My independent VW specialist used very nice dark grey replacement discs so looking fwd to the fronts matching the rears. They go so well with my recently new CM Gunmetal 18” Prets.

So that’s me committed and that’s Mrs P relieved.

I nearly converted to a new Octavia vRS but for a few reasons did not proceed. However the exercise of establishing probable sale value on the GTI was very reassuring as far as the maintenance of residual value is concerned.

All I need now is for the Forum to be as “vigorous” as it was a few years ago!
2019 5Dr Mk7.5 Performance, DSG. Indium Grey with DCC, TCR lip spoiler.
