Aye, but you look a right idiot when it happens. People must think you've stalled the car.

Drivers wiper left a smear on the return stroke for a while, seems OK in the rain today.

Mpg is nowhere near the + 18% claimed. 10% at best.

Xenons seem to switch on too early when switched to auto, even on 'late' setting.

Overall though this a fantastic car, close to perfection - very close.

+1 it's a great car

Car going great except for one niggle. The dreaded creaking door seals in front doors. Have applied the Gummi Pfledge stuff that worked on my MK6 but hasn't done the job so far on the MK7. Has anyone got this on their new motor? Irrigation tubes are not an option IMO as I shouldn't have to do that to a car I just paid €40k for ! Is a trip to the stealers my only other option where they could make it worse ?! Other than this, car is a dream to drive and own. Thanks.

Ok, just a very minor one, but on my Scirocco with the RNS-510 and 9W7 Bluetooth, when programming in the 5speed dials, I could rename them to what I wanted.

For instance, on my phone, my wife's contact has 4 numbers on it: our home number, her mobile, her work mobile and her works landline. I could select the first two and rename them for the speed dials as "Home'" and "Ange's Mobile", in the Scirocco, but in the Golf, you can't seem to rename them, so both speed dials have the same contact name.

Has anyone found a way around this yet ?

Might be easier just to setup 4 seperate contacts instead of the one with multiple numbers?

Eg Ang Home, Ang Mob, Ang Work

?

I had this exact issue (as with every car I've had) and Gummi Pfledge did the trick. Silent now.

Thank for reply Joe. Where exactly did you apply the Gummy? On the door seals? I'm sure the noise is coming from the felty kind of material at the top of the door where it touches the paint.

I have a different car but I had the same problem from new   After a lot of research and trial and error I finally tracked the squeaking down to the felt seal that runs along the very top of the doors and front A pillars.

I used Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber on all the rubber and felt seals and that worked a treat too.  (There are quite a few seals on modern cars so open the doors and look for them all.  Some are double sided, so treat the inside creases of these too.

Other tips I learnt from research :

1. Strip off any existing wax or existing treatment with panel wipe / IPA / fairy liquid (both the seals and the paintwork that it sits against).
2. Never use a silicone based wax or spray on the seals or the paintwork that the seals rest against.
3. Apply the rubber treatment every so often to stop the felt seals drying out.
4. Do all doors the same.
5. Treat the seals and the also the paint within the door shuts that they sit against.  I always used to wax the door shut paint and that may have been my problem.

It has silenced my problem for the last 10 months after driving me mad for a few weeks

Yeah as above, it's the felt-like material on the door frame that causes the issue. Mine started after the car was pro detailed. The rubbers must have dried out after whatever soap the detailer used.
A liberal dose of Gummi Pfledge all around those felt seals around the door frame did the trick. I'm sure as per above that other rubber lubricants would work too.
