Yep it was a retro-fit

With VAG-Com you could have enabled the nav menu on your MFD.

Yes, definitely. I had an RNS retro fitted to my MK6 GTD. A friend did it for me, so I don't know the exact setting, but unless you explicitly set it via vag-com, then your MFD won't show the Nav directions and your RNS isn't properly installed.

Options I went for:

Discovery Nav Pro - Very expensive but went for it as it finishes the interior and looks good
Keyless - Mainly for the keyless start, and so I don't have to fish my key out my pocket
Winter Pack - Cant have a cold bum in the winter!
Park Assist - Just a bit of a gizmo really
Current // Golf GTD 3dr DSG - Carbon Grey | Discovery Nav Pro, Keyless Entry, Park Assist, Reverse Camera, Winter Pack
Previous // Polo GTI 6r - Black | Xenons, MFSW, Winter Pack, Sensor Pack, Convenience Pack, Climate Control, RNS 510 w/Bluetooth

I really want the rear camera but they wont take an order on it even though I dont mind the extended wait as I know the retro-fit is quite expensive.

What are you after, a GTI?

You could always call my dealer and ask to have the car I cancelled.  It has a rear camera speced.  Of course, you won't get to change any other options so depends how much of a big deal that camera is to you.

Honestly why would you be prepared to wait ages for a camera. The park assist is perfectly adequate and the camera thing is just a sideshow for passengers

+1  Why let a gimmick (just my opinion of course) stop you getting the car you want??

Camera is pretty useful, isn't the park assist more of a gimmick?
