I do wonder whether builds are prioritised due to expected shipping. I have noticed that for the first time in ages, there is a huge gap in the Emden to Port of Tyne (my car is planned to be shipped to port of Tyne)scheduled runs. There hasn’t been a ship from Emden in well over a week, and looking forward to 28 Aug 13 (as far as it will let you go), the schedule shows no further expected shipping trips between the 2 ports.
From the point of view of getting my car built and to destination, there’s nowt spoiling – it would be sitting dockside for the best part of 2 weeks if it had been built at the start of BW33. I wonder if VW have taken this into account when putting off my BW33 built to what is likely to be early BW35? Could I believe they are that well organised to take the lack of shipping into consideration?
Perhaps the demand for new plate delivery has mainly been fulfilled (the cars are now with the dealers, or at least in the hands of VW UK at portside) and there aren’t enough cars left to ship that would justify a Emden to Tyne direct sailing. Perhaps I should be looking for ships going to Sheerness from Emden and then going to Tyne from Sheerness.
