I was weighing up a trip to the audi dealership to discuss what's on offer but I reckon those who pull out in haste will repent at their leisure.....

I agree here, I have just phoned up about an Ex demonstrator fro another dealer. I can have it next month but it will have 3,000 miles on it, its a similar spec and price as a new one so I thought it would be easy.

However because I am buying on solutions different rules apply for used cars, the monthly payment is £100 more per month.

I think waiting may be the best option.

Besides I am crossing my fingers that I can get a registration like this  'GO14 GTD'

I just spec'ed a A3 184 manual, headliner, roof, 18's, heating seat and adaptive suspension
, mirrors, cruise, etc, nothing over the GTD I'm waiting for and it works out +£3k.

GTD is good value and well worth the wait I reckon. I ordered my mk6 in July for a Xmas delivery, it arrive late July, 12 months and still reckoned the wait was worth it. I usually change model each time but can't find a better option. Not sure about the plate GO14GTD though, if I was going to get palate, which I wouldn't, I'd need something better....

Just realised GO14GTD might be read as GOLF GTD, it didn't hit me straight away though. Can think of much better thing to part me with my money.....

GTD White 5dr, ACC, Sunroof, winter pack, in transit.......

I have been told that I am still on for mine to be built next week.  Hope the dealer is not lying.  I don't mind waiting but my wife is another matter.  If we get delayed again i'll let her loose on them

I did not know about the 'built within 2 weeks' rule - this is new to me.  So now, according to VW, a build confirmed week is actually a build confirmed 2 weeks

There is no such rule - they make it up as they go along.

Seriously this is the best explanation for everything we've been told!

EDIT:
I notice the sponsor on the banner at the bottom of this page says "BMW - Value and Care" hahahahahaha! I guess at least one car firm has been reading this forum then.

Lisa from VWCS just called me, and confirmed what someone above said. The confirmed build week could be one of 2 weeks, so in my case (confirmed build Week 33 -this week), and according to the tracker, its not started build yet), or next week !!! WTF

What's the point of a build week if it could be one of two ? Well I guess I just have to hope as its not been built this week when it should have, that it gets done next week. I won't hold my breath though. Seriously, not only is this really starting to pi55 me off, it's sucked every single ounce of enjoyment I might have had in ordering a new car. I'm now in a state of mind that I really don't care if it arrives or not, so am going to look at a few rivals this weekend and try and negotiate a deal or two, then if the car doesn't get built next week, I'm off.

In any case the wife and I have decided that our 10 year love affair and 8 cars with VW is well and truly over, and these will be the last two VW's we will ever own. It's totally disgraceful how customers have been treated and how completey not bothered both the dealerships and VW are.

This is what I have been told by the salesman at the dealership

'I have personally spoken to VW Customer services following your email, and can confirm that it is not the case.

Your new Golf GTD has been confirmed by the factory and will still be going into production as anticipated.

Hope this banishes your worries.'

I'm not believing this until I get confirmation that its being built.

I really don't buy this 2 week window crap...  How can a large manufacturing company, even one as seemingly incompetent as VW at the moment, do any decent form of production planning with a window of up to 2 weeks per car?  Ridiculous.

This is worse than the mk6. This is the last time I buy a new VW, I'm sorry but if every other car company can deliver on time I don't understand why VW can't. An absolute joke.
