Makes you wonder if all the waiting is worth it for a new car.. When its badly handled like this.

That it does.

Regarding Evo... You do it mate, that way they can't cancel any of our orders as retaliation!

You know you're onto something. If a motoring journo had a small column to fill he could fill it with this story.

10 Mins on here reading a few threads would be all he needed to write an extremely negative review of VW customer service. Plus the shock of loyal VW customers cancelling orders on GTI's due to their utter shambles would make for interesting reading.

Surely that would interest at least one hack somewhere?

As Bear said, if it came from Drisser they couldn't do anything malicious towards him "BECAUSE HE'S ALREADY CANCELLED DUE TO THE DEBACLE".

If this got out into the main press it would do massive damage to VW's reputation. It almost begs the question as to is there some underhand deals going on?

On 9 Sept I got advised my new GTD would be in the dealership on 18 Oct. 10 days later that date has gone back a further 2 weeks. How on earth can a modern day manufacturing plant be getting its dates so wrong. My current car is on the verge of falling to bits and reading this thread I have visions of finding myself having to start all over again!

Errrr, I'd be cancelling straight away and heading over to the BMW garage.  120d - quicker and nearly as economical.  That is absolutely outrageous!

............ and the 125D engine is a belter as well

My gf ordered her 120d M-Sport in mid-August almost a month after I order my Golf GTD.

Her car will be delivered on 30th Sept - a factory order - after 7 weeks...

Mine won't be collected until the first week of December (estimated)... if it is delivered then the process will have taken 13 weeks longer...

This doesn't reflect well on Volkswagen...

That's the price of exclusivity and with that exclusivity comes far better residuals - 56% GFV on the GTD and 46% on the 1 series. If VW wanted to churn these out by the bucketload like they do with SE and GT then they would. In their infinite wisdon they have decided not to and eventually you might thank them for that when your £26k GTD is worth £3k more than your 1 series performance Diesel at 3 years old. I do say "might"!
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

My personal thoughts after looking at all options before settling on the GTD:

I think the 1 series is very common these days and not a looker IMO. I would prefer to wait on something special.

I consider the new A Class and CLS to be the best looking cars on the road, but the engines did not measure up to the GTD. So the GTD had everything for me. Buy I will always look at the A Class and ponder my choice.

But it just proves that everyone has their own idea of good looks.
