Before you do anything rash I would find out what the delay is.

And also find out what car you would get after 20 weeks.
Won't necessarily be an up.

If it is a mk7 golf or scirocco ( or indeed a c class merc..) who knows?

It's not like you are under any time pressure

Wow and I thought I had it tough waiting 17 weeks after ordering 1st week April

Easy for me to say, but don't cancel, it's a fantastic car !!!

I have thought about asking for a courtesy car while I wait, its already been 18 weeks and apparently they provide one after 20 weeks.

I asked about this. Birmingham vw told me they don't offer one.

They have to offer one. It's in their terms. So they're talking sh1te!

I would think they would have to honour it. I have just sold mine privately so I'm without a car for the next 5 months.

Dealer would have to take a massive hit on the part ex value after 10 months.

Always get a fixed p/x - hopefully the OP has done this. VW can compensate the dealer for delays which eat away at the P/X value, after 20 weeks from order acceptance by VW UK, I believe.

If the dealer cannot provide a coutesy car then VW UK should be able to provide one directly, again after 20 weeks from order acceptance.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Have a look on the terms & conditions on the back of your order form, I think its on there.  Or just phone the VW Exec Office (they were the ones that confirmed this for me).

I will do, does anyone have the exec office's contact details. I called VWCS they said courtesy cars due to delays need to be taken up with the dealership with whom you ordered.

That's how I understand it - your dealership is responsible for providing the courtesy car, and they will have to claim any costs back from VW.
