I really hope someone makes a decent aftermarket rear  diffuser, the OEM looks like something off a Fiat Punto and make it look like it has a saggy arse....

I think the back looks perfectly OK.  The Mk5 that I have has a horrible big black bumber so the Mk7 is a huge step up in terms of looks!  With the sleeker light clusters, I think it looks better than the Mk6.  Opinions vary of course, but I certainly wouldn't go as far as calling the rear of the Mk7 horrible.

And the massively oversized MK6 rear clusters looked like they were straight off a Touareg - those MK7 clusters and crease line are quite an improvement!
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

A quick question for you Rik.... How are you finding it to park & manoeuvre into difficult spots? I notice u have the DSG box and was wondering whether by switching between drive & reverse, the 'auto hold' handbrake is activated (thus making manoeuvring clumsy... Hope I'making sense)?

I know its a trivial question but I know its one of those things that will drive me 'Bonkers' in the long term.

Hope you're enjoying the car by the way!!! Very Jel...

(I suppose you could always turn the 'auto hold' off when parking to make things easier, but that would even bug me if I had to do it everytime)

Do you know - just had a discussion with my mate about 'auto hold' - on the sloping drive I noticed the light wasn't on - and pressing the button does not seem to do anything! almost like its not working, but while out and about I noticed it came on - seems like there may be some spooky programing going on.
What I can say is - on the drive - foot brake on, handbrake off, into reverse, foot brake release and it 'creeps backward' up the drive - so no brake needed - if that makes sense.
I have also notice that moving between drive and reverse - I don't need to use any brake apart from the footbrake.
its difficult to explain - and I'm not sure what's going on myself! :) - but then - I usually drive manuals.

P.S. loving it

Man it looks ugly from the back in that 3rd picture...what VW thinking

A little more subtle than the mk6 - must admit, I prefer the mk6 at the back, but then the rest is much better! IMHO

With the fear of getting flamed - I sort of agree with you there :)

Yup, the rear light clusters were the first thing that put me off getting a Mk6

I hate the original lights that were on my mk6 but the LED's are among the best looking lights on any car anywhere imo! 8)

Currently pootling around in our family wagen, a Tiguan SEL 😂

Yeh I really like the rear LED's on my mk6, still looks fresh today and better than any other Hot Hatch (GTI 7 aside) rear clusters IMO

Eh ?? - just landed - what ?? did I miss something?

Anyways - MPG - for Jimble
GTI set at normal mode but that silly stop / start turned off!
Little bit of town driving and a little dual carriageway = 22mpg
Very gentle drive back, through centre of Derby - mostly 30mph = 28mpg

One thing to note:
This thing turns heads!!!!
While I had it parked on the road outside the house - people in cars where stopping at the side of it to look!
While driving (just, so dark) through the city centre - all the youngsters out on the pi$$ - pointing at it as I went by
So - not inconspicuous

I will post some more 'real world' MPG and feedback after tomorrows trip
