I wouldn't say it is said, but I would say its pointless to have 2 cars the same !

As someone said earlier you loose the sense of occasion, always better to have one daily grind car and one more fun car.  Someone near me has 2 merc a class, and worse they are the same colour !  Now that is sad..

If diesel is a must, why not go for something a bit different like a convertible diesel then. You have all bases covered?  Personally I wouldn't buy 2 very similar cars, variety is the spice of life

Done the convertible thing this summer, so bored of that now. I hear what you're saying, I think if the 125d is a good drive then it'll be between that and the GTI!

If it was me I would get something like a nearly new bmw 320 d hardtop convertible.  4 seats, convertible without the compromise and plenty room / economy.

Also, great deals and deposit contributions on the outgoing 3 series.

Then you still have the hot hatch fun covered..
Daily drive - LCI BMW 330 D Estoril Blue & Saddle leather. M sport + Pack / Prof Nav / Head Up / Heated Seats
On the way - CS ed 40 tornado red, manual, 3 door
Weekend fun - low mileage portofino blue 1997 Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo
2017 Build Slot reserved for BMW M2

Had a 320d so that's out! Plus too slow, has to be sub 7 secs (but not faster that my GTI ) The new 3 series does look good though, although the 4 looks very tempting (but too pricey I fear).

Maybe try an Alfa giulietta cloverleaf to be different.

She currently has a Guillietta so the cloverleaf isn't an option!

How big a car does she need?
Maybe a junior hot hatch like the Fiesta ST, 208 Gti, Clio RS, MINI JCW ?
