question on foam lance

guys newbie on foaming here so apologies for my numb question.

to use a foam lance, does one need to have a water pressure system? (which would mean buying the foam lance AND the water pressure system)? Or can one use  a foam lance on its own?  (As you gathered i have neither a foam lance or a pressure system).  Also, do all foam lances fit on all water pressure systems?

You will need a pressure washer and the snow foam lance kit that has the correct attachment for the machine. There are different attachments for different machines.

hmm, so it's best if i get both pieces from the same place to make sure they fit. 

Would 100 bar be enough for snow foaming a car??

No you need to firstly choose a pressure washer you like, depending on what make and model it is will determine what snow foam attachment you'll need for that particular machine.

For example:
 I own a nilfisk c120 pressure washer

And this is my snow foam lance attachment.

mate, is this for real? I hope it is but I read someplace that pressures under 100 bar do not produce satisfactory foam.  How will my hose produce foam then, having substantially lower bar pressure than a water pressure system?

I've read that these attachments do not produce as good a foam as a proper lance.  Don't think you can beat the real thing.

Btw, highly recommend Bilt Hamber auto foam.  I recently switched to this and am amazed at the improvement over my previous snow foam shampoo.

I've tested the gilmour years ago and they are not good for foaming and they cost more than a normal foam lance attachment for a pressure washer, they are good for a general pre soaking with say tfr or apc,citrus pre wash if you just want to soak the car first to loosen the crap,
If you want thick foam that clings then a pressure washer (with a good flow rate)and a dedicated foam lance is the only way to go.

hose pipe ones are crap. Snow foam is not that effective on unprotected paint.
