Stuttering under boost
« on: 16 June 2013, 18:11 »
Hiya need a bit of light shed on this. I'm thinking it may be a boost leak causing this stuttering under hard boost and it chuffs out smoke. Is this possible to be the cause? Going throught the gears no problem it's when I'm sat in a gear plodding along and then when I wanna overtake for example and put my foot down it comes onto boost and just coughs and splutters. I'm sure it's not over boost but can't be 100% sure as I don't have a boost gauge linked up. Anyone have some useful input? Many thanx

As Jamie says it could be the MAF, unplug it and see if the problem improves

it could be a number of things, turbo is most likely cause though.

It's a new turbo. So unlikely to be that. It's almost like its over fuelling and coughs and splutters.

Did you replace the turbo with a like for like as in K03 >K03 or K03s >K03s
If you did and its smoking is it white or blue smoke? blue is oil and white is damaged turbo or coolant
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

Not sure on the colour as its hard to tell when your driving flat out lol. And I went from a ko3s to a ko4 001. The turbo has been fine for the last 4 months. I can't see it being the turbo but I'm open to opinions.

Copy turbo but I don't think it's that. I've since found I have a dtc 00575
