I guess it depends how your expectations are set. When I ordered mine the dealer said it showed a July 1st delivery, but she said to me quite clearly "From experience with a new GTI model, I strongly doubt that will be the case, it never is". I've known her for years as she used to sell BMW (have waited 11 months for a new M3 before). The only delay I've really had was being pushed from BW28 to BW32 because of the factory shutdown being brought forward a week. When the car didn't show as being in build at the end of BW32 she called VW daily and emailed me an update. Today said the other 4 cars in their original allocation of 5 have been pushed back to 'unconfirmed' BW 41. The worst part is I really want her to work for me now, I'm wondering what a VW salespersons basic might be?
I ordered the day before the order books were open for the GTI, so effectively anyone that ordered before me had their order made on the same date.
I have absolutely no problem with my car taking so long, it's the fact that nobody can tell me why that i find frustrating! If they were honest and forthcoming with problems i'm sure we'd all be a little more chilled about the whole thing? I mean 4 and a half months and they've only just decided when they're going to build it!
I think GTI's are starting to move along fine now. GTD orders however sound as if they are about to get royally screwed. I'm expecting alot more orders to go BW51. The guys getting theirs built this week or next have dodged a bullet!

So well done you, but you're one of the few lucky ones.
