Mine has arrived at the dealer and I could collect next week. I know I have previously mentioned that as I am buying with my own cash ( belay that: with mainly bank's cash) and ,conscious of residuals if I survive to sell or trade in in 3/4 years, am I mad to delay the pleasure of taking delivery now?

I would definitely wait. if you collect it now you are only going to get 2 weeks of new plate (and there are loads about) if you wait until September you will be one of the first around with the new plate and 6 months to enjoy it. also I am only down the road, I am sure you will feel pretty sick if you spot me in my new 63 plate while you are in your old 13 plate.

mmm maybe I can have a bit of a gloat

Very true, I'm getting one put on myself, but I think I'd still wait for it to "officially" be a 63 plate.  It will help to some degree or other come resale or p/x when you take the private plate off and put a regular one on.

hi all. my gti is arriving into Dublin on the 15th September. VW Ireland have told me the car should be at dealers within 10 working days. Does this seem normal? I ordered May 01st. Please and thanks!

Hi fellow Ireland member! My car arrived into Dublin around June 15th and I didn't collect it until July 1st, but that was my own doing as I asked the dealers to delay it for the 132 plate. If I'd wanted it, I could have had it at least a week earlier. I'm sure your car will be at the dealers within a couple of days of reaching Dublin. It'll be worth the wait!

Thanks for the reply Joe. Hope to be driving it the 21/22nd as I have a good long road trip planned for it! Im from Cork btw. Think MK7 Gti's are going to be a very rare sight on Irish roads, which is a good thing! hope your motor is going well.

Cool, I'm in Galway. Yeah, it's going very well, delighted with it so far! I'd say they will be rare but maybe not as rare as the MK6 was.

Hello Ricepop and thanks for your input. Are you buying locally? I did try to give the business to the Stamford dealer but they were unable to come up with a sensible offer.

Yes I bought from Robinsons in Stamford, I got a fair deal and like the thought of having the dealership within walking distance. The whole place is a bit ramshackle but I am ok with that because its backed up by the Peterborough branch.
