Remap for MK4 Gti
« on: 29 May 2013, 13:10 »
Hi everyone, Im brand new to this site and a first time VW owner as next Saturday. I'm getting a second hand 2002 VW golf GTI 1.8t 150 BHP with 28000 miles on the clock . I’m looking to get it remapped to around 190 to 200BHP and was wondering if this is recommended, will there be much of an improvement in acceleration?

Does anyone know a good place to get a remap done in Scotland, or better yet Aberdeen? Also am I likely to have any problems with the car after the remap?

Thanks everyone

A remap is well worth it, just make sure all is sound before you remap it.

Cheers guys, I gave starperformance a call, they said they could take the horsepower up to 185 and torque to 270nm for 300pounds. Is this a reasonable gain or can I get better elsewhere?

My ones booked into Ricky gauld out by huntley for a week on monday. He was recommended by a friend who's used him for his rally car. Ill let you know how it goes. I've not mentioned what power I'm looking for because I feel it's best to let him decide. Prices he quoted me for a custom map were £275 + vat and power runs £40 + vat
