I am not as fortunate as you guys and have the GT on order (which i am sure I will still be over the moon with....until I start seeing GTDs and GTIs out on the road!!!)...

I ordered it back in March with Xenons, at that time there was only one option which cost £785. I found out on the forum (luckily!) that the car would be delivered WITHOUT the 'U' shaped LED daytime running lights (a subject already covered on another thread some time ago).

I swiftly cancelled my order (after 3 weeks of deadly silence, lack of information, and very little help/info from either the dealership or the VW executive office).

I then re-placed the order at the start of April, this time speccing the newly available xenon option at £1185, "Including static cornering function, automatic range adjustment, headlight washers, low washer fluid warning light and LED daytime running lights"

I am told by VW to expect delivery around the end of June and I have to be honest, I am still a bit nervous about what I will actually be getting......

The GT is a cracking car mate. I had Mk5 GT and loved it. The fact it now comes with things like sat nav as standard just adds to the enjoyment. I'm sure you'll love it

In UK however they seem to be the static ones only

From here:

Quote from: VW UK web site
Bi-Xenon headlights also have a dynamic cornering feature that improves illumination of corners by up to 90%. It enables the headlights to swivel up to 15 degrees, so the beam can follow the angle of your steering wheel, giving you early warning of any hazards and more time to react.

Cheers, yeah I had a GT on demo from the dealership for a few hours and I have to say that I was very impressed with the build quality (and we are usually an Audi household so I had been nervous about the interior cabin quality, but I had no need to be!). The amount of standard kit that comes with it is outstanding, I honestly believe it must be the best value for money mid/premium range hatchback on the market. It's just a shame that the whole lack of clarity on certain things, such as the Xenons is really disappointing but I'm sure that will all be forgotten on the day I pick it up!

I am pretty sure  :undecided:  (and I hope I don't get shot down in flames here ) that the £1185 Xenon option I have specced will be the same ones that come as standard on the GTD and GTI, so when I take delivery I'll let you all know if it is just the static cornering function, or the full-on dynamic lights

Good point. I've been too busy admiring the Bi-Xenons and not thinking how difficult it may be to change the bulb. It is a bulb right?

Can it be changed by human hand (and not in a stealers)?

It says on the price list for GTi/GTD UK "Bi-xenon headlights for dipped and main beam with static cornering function, automatic range adjustment and LED daytime running lights" no mention of dynamic of which there is no option at all for - But it could possibly be just another VW misnoma and dynamic and static are very much part of the whole Bi Xenon spec - Given the car you would think more likely than not.

And as you say as just found! this is on UK site http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/new/golf-gti-vii/explore/experience/design/bi-xenon-headlights

Video showing them up close http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDqXqr8KLG0

And good video explaining it all though know for sure not getting the dynamic light assist aspect other drivers just going to have to rely on me noticing them :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDDvCBPoLSU

Well that would seem like pretty strong evidence that the GTI/GTD will be getting the dynamic lights (unless MK have completely frigged that up also!)

I am pretty convinced now that the £1185 Xenon light option I have specced for my GT will also come with it, as in the pricelist it shows the same Xenon lights as optional on the GT that are standard on the GTI/GTD, so if you guys do get the dynamic lights as standard then I am sure that is the same as the £1185 option on the GT.

Well we will see what I get when I collect the car!

There are only three types of Xenons in ETKA.

One with a chrome surround which do not include dynamic lighting. (£390 each)
One with LED Drls surround which include dynamic lighting. (£478 each)
One with LED Drls surround and beam assist which also include dynamic lighting and auto dip. (£641 each)

So from this the GTI will definitely get the dynamic lighting as it has the LED Drls
Mk6 GTI 3dr | DSG | Tornado Red | 18" Monza 2 | LED Xenons | RNS510 | Bluetooth | Smoked LED tails | Cruise | Reversing Camera | TPMS | - now sold :(

Without sounding boring or repetitive this a direct quote from the downloadable UK price list as of 1/5/13:

"Bi-xenon headlights for dipped and main beam with static cornering function, automatic range adjustment and LED daytime running lights."

It makes no mention of dynamic cornering function  yet on the website is says the GTD/GTI has that very function  God only knows!

So, who knows what we'll actually end up with.

Either way they still look the dogs.....
