This video shows the Xenon units on what I suspect is a GT spec (or a Highline vehicle in the rest of Europe).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBFAz_fxPAM

It shows the static cornering function by way of the halogen bulb and reflector in the side housing. I have watched the video a couple of times and am pretty sure I cannot see the Xenon light moving from side to side, which would suggest that this is not the dynamic set up, but the standard static cornering function that comes with the Bi-xenon option (according to the price list).

On the other hand:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDqXqr8KLG0

This video shows the not only the static cornering function by way of a halogen bulb and reflector, but full dynamic cornering function.

The UK price list shows two options for the lights:

Gas discharge (Bi-xenon) dipped and main beam headlights:

Including static cornering function, automatic range adjustment, headlight washers and low washer fluid warning light. £785

Including static cornering function, automatic range adjustment, headlight washers, low washer fluid warning light and LED daytime running lights.  £1185

My thinking is this..... It seems a bit steep (even for VWG) to charge an extra £400 just for LED drls.
So.... perhaps the £1185 option, which is an option on GTs, and standard on GTI and GTD has dynamic lights also (Although it doesn't state that in the price-list, but we all know how accurate that is!!).

Any thoughts??

My thoughts?  I think people are over-analysing this and relying too much on what VW UK's configurator (which is hopeless) and the brochures (which seem to change every other day) say.  The Golf 6 Xenons have dynamic curve lighting.  The Mark 7 is supposed to be a step forward in every regard.  Why then would the new car be less capable than the old one?

Let's compare it to the German brochure for the Trend/Comfort/Highline (page 21), which also has two options relating to Xenons.

1. Xenons without LED DRLs and without dynamic curve lighting - EUR 850.
2. Xenons with LED DRLs and with dynamic curve slighting - EUR 1200.

The prices are suspiciously close to the UK ones, factoring in currency variations and "let's round them up/down a bit" from the accounts department.  You cannot get dynamic curve lighting without LED DRLs.  I don't think that VW would produce a unit that has LEDs but no dynamic curve lighting just for the UK, and like you say, £400 is an awful lot for a couple of white LEDs.  Adding more variations for a particular option means reduced profits and a more complex build process (and a greater potential to screw up by accidentally fitting the wrong part).

Conclusion: the Mark 7 has dynamic curve lighting as well.

I agree Jules. It wouldn't make sense for them not to have it.

I am expecting delivery of my GT, with Bi-Xenons & LED DRLs (and some other options) at the end of June, so I will be able to confirm what the light set up is in reality then....
