All you need a blanket or a sheet over the windscreen...saves all the scrapping or need for de-icer..and if you leave it running and it gets stolen..insurance won't cover the claim..

When ever I've done the blanket thing, it's ended up raining that night and I end up with a soaking wet blanket to dry.

Wax striping de-icer has always been a no no for me.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I personally use luke warm tap water, not so hot it'll crack the screen but warm enough to melt the ice.
Currently pootling around in our family wagen, a Tiguan SEL 😂

my gtd take an awfull long time to warm up, just wondering if it normal?

when starting for the first time in the mornings, it sits idle for around 25-30mins before the oil temperature needle even moves.

As suggested don't leave it idling just drive it.

They do take a while to warm up because its diesel more of the heat does more work and not being sent to the cooling system thats why they are more fuel efficient.

The oil temperature on the MFD doesn't show anything until it get to 50°C.

One option I looked for when I ordered was a heated front screen, we've had Land Rovers and Focus's that have has them for donkey's years and they're a godsend on a frozen morning!
