All this "get in the car and drive" is all very well, but you can't do that if it's all iced up.

I have always left my cars to idle to de-ice themselves. I block the drive with one car, whilst the other de-ices. Then swap them round and do the other car if they are both going out.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Agreed, pisses me right off hearing my neighbours car idling out in the street for 15mins in the early hours of the morning as they are too lazy to scrape their cars and bugger off....sorry but it gets my goat

To the OP, start your car and let the fluids circulate for a few seconds then your good to go with a gentle right for 10-15 mins until car is fully warmed up.

I try to be as courteous as possible, the neighbours on the other hand...despite them knowing I start work between 3-4:15 every morning...meaning bed by 7pm...are noisy as anything, I'm not asking them to live in silence....but hammering, drilling and loud music...slightly take the piss lol

Bucket + water = de-iced

Quicker than shuffling the cars around and waiting, better on your pocket, better on the environment, better for your engine and p1sses the neighbours off less

Couple of quid bags you a windscreen shield. Remove in 20 seconds and drive away. No scraping and no de-icer needed  :smug:
