Ok so far i've got:

GTI 5dr DSG £27915
Paint max        £500
Nav.                    £1725
Sunroof.            £900
ACC.                  £795
Colour screen. £135
Park assist.      £145
Rear cam.          £165

Total.                    £32280

The standard equipment seems very very good, can't wait to see the illuminated door sill protectors! 8) strange they are still calling the upholstery Jacara? Wonder if it's the same?

Need to see the brochure to choose a colour!! >:(

What about folding mirrors mate?

this is the spec i would buy. pretty basic spec

5 door manual
performance pack
Dynaudio
metallic paint
rear side airbag
rear view camera

£28915

then again i would rather put the extra £1000 towards it and get the M135i...

Who will go for Performance Pack?

I'm not sure its really worth the £980, it would only be the diff in my mind that could be a difference maker, in the real world day to day drive.

Dave

I reckon probably about 20% of buyers will go for the performance pack, i won't be one of em! :-X

Do you think the performance pack will offer an improved remap potential? I kind of figured the extra 10bhp came from a VW remap but I could be wrong?

The 10 extra BHP is likely to be a small factor for people considering the performance pack.

It's main selling points will be the Mechanical LSD (Lot's £££ to retrofit) and the larger brakes.

Can't be arsed to do the maths but for me:

GTI or GTD, not fussed
3 or 5 door, not fussed, kids are bendy so can cope with either.
possibly white, possibly red but would probably prefer a grey as I detest cleaning cars yet I like mine not to look dirty!!
Manual as the road test bit I read said the 6th gear is silly high and I don't want to be arguing with the car all the time as I can't do that and argue with the wife at the same time.
Basic Nav as I'm a bit thick and crap at directions but far too tight to pay for the bells and whistles nav.
Park Assist as I can't drive properly and I'm old and lazy, and really just because it's a gimmick and I fancy it!!
Rear camera maybe? Dunno.
19" wheels silly expensive on top of existing 18" option so would just transfer my BBS's over and be smug.
Not sure about Performance Pack. Might bite the bullet if the deal was a good one.

That's probably about it.

Might give a few dealers a ring to see what my rapidly plummeting GTI price to change would be. I'd want one of the first ones if I was going for it otherwise I'd just do my usual and pick up a demo car off a dealer who's keen to deal.
