OK, so I took my config down to the dealer this afternoon and placed the order. The GTI is still not on the VW system but he was very grateful that I brought him the printed pricelist from the pdf I managed to download !

They have placed an order on their own order management system and I have paid a deposit. They will upload the order onto the VW system as soon as it becomes possible to do so. He had had one other customer who wanted to place an order this morning but who wouldn't do so without a clear price list.

So final spec (as subsequently agreed with the wife):

GTI 5 Door
DSG
Tornado Red
Winter Pack
Side Airbags in Rear
Adaptive Chassis Control
Park Assist (got to try this if it's only £145 !!)
Rear View Camera
3 Year Service Plan
Luggage compartment liner

Total Cost £30,002 (list was £30,009 so I saved £7 somehow !!)

He gave no dates, only a vague June/July - they have no info so far - but he has valued the trade in 10 yr old Ford Focus today and will keep that value until whenever the GTI arrives.

Only fear is if it all goes wrong because they had to select an old GTI model on their own order system and fudge the costs and options to at least get it onto their system. He assured me they would select the new model when they put it onto the official VW system ... :undecided:

Overall, rather chuffed. Hopefully I am going to be near the front of the queue.
Arrived: GTI, DSG, 5 Door, Carbon Steel Grey, Service Plan, Winter Pack, Side Airbag, DCC (or ACC - the Adaptive Chassis thing, ok?), Park Assist, Rear View Camera
