Oh really, strange that my car revs 1300rpm above that then :/ id think if it was a chip made specifically for my car it would only add that extra 100-200 you say. Otherwise all the rest its adding is just pointless :/
Eitherways i knew i wouldn't get big performance out of my 8v, just bought it because didn't fancy having to swap insurance companies to UK insurance just to get a 16v or VR.

Edit: To be fair not like revving to 7500rpm matters at the moment as it only revs to 5000rpm since a garage fitted a new cambelt and "distributor amplifier" yesterday  :undecided:

Your timing is out, Get it sorted

I already know. Told them it was out, but they said if its out then it wouldn't start and its more likely something to do with the distributor that needs adjusting.
Eitherways its already booked in to get sorted.

My chip arrived today and when i opened up the ecu there was a chrome plate in it i need to remove. Iv took the back cover off but looks like its solderd to the board. Did u have this? And how did u get it off i u did. Just dont want to start tuggin on it, if it is solderd

do you mean the chrome cover is soldered? if so heat up the joins with a soldering iron and use a jeweller's flat head to carefully prise it apart. then if your chip is soldered in then take it to a local car tuner. he'll be able to take the old one out and solder the new one in as it's pretty small and fiddly. I got quoted £50 to do this, didn't get it done tho. good luck!

If it's square it's an 8v chip, if it's rectangular it's a 16v chip.

I would've thought the only chip worth buying for an 8v is one you can eat..
