wellycooler - N75 + DV take offs
« on: 21 January 2013, 23:52 »
is it adviseable to retain the stock charge pipe when doing the wellycooler so as to retain the original take offs for the N75 and DV valves.
cant see any clear explanation of how the valves are connected after the install apart from the mentioning of taps n stuff. any info appreciated :)
weirdos on here i tell you ;)

depends which way you want to do it, the stock charge pipe is a smaller diameter than the rest of the wellycooler setup, I went the K04 charge pipe way but this also involves changing the inlet mani.
I have seen people use a straight piece of tube and getting the takeoffs welder on to that
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

wana do the welly cooler setup keeping the inlet manifold in the same orientation, just baffled a to what happens to the N75 and DVs, do i need to purchase a seperate pipe with take offs which is not shown in any of the install threads, dont wana fart about drilling, might just TOYO KIT it.

Im interested to see how your k03 will perform with the wellycooler and associated 2.5" piping.
But looking at your sig you'll be going hybrid.
I have no plans to go above k03s, if at all. So I may go with 2.25" piping and intercooler inlet/outlet.

If so I wil be using the OE charge pipe. Or maybe even a 1.8t mk2 Ibiza charge pipe.

So will the welly and piping be too big?
I can only muster a measly 16psi of boost

im running a K03 and wellycooler on mine with 2.5" piping and its fine, there is a small amount of lag, but nothing a K03s and stage 2 wont sort out

the 'wellycooler' and 2.5'' pipes will be fine on a ko3S.

DV and N75 are down to you really mate, the N75 is dead easy, just using a 6mm brass hose tail with a 1.8th thread drilled and tapped into a pipe and sealed up with chemical metal. the dv take off at 25mm is a bit harder, you can either use a cold side relocation kit, or get someone to weld on a 25mm stub for you.

I've seen people use the original charge pipe turned round  and joined with a straight coupler to face up and forward to amtch the wellycooler pipework, I think the stock charge pipe is 54mm, and being directly after the 2'' turbo outlet it shouldn't be a big problem using it for that short length.
