rear indicator wiring
« on: 14 January 2013, 12:43 »
Hi all,

I have red rear clusters and get red when the indicators are on
now I have the LED bulbs and resistors needed to stop the hyper flashing, my question is does anyone know which colour wire the resistor needs adding between?

Cheers

Should be black/white drivers for the left indicator and black/green for the right. What size resistor are you using as I've just ordered led indicator bulbs myself.

can't remember but will have a look and let you know, there was a post on another forum telling what size resistors, but not what wiring you needed to add them into

There are spare terminals on the back of the bulb holder, if you trace the tracks you can add a resistor to the terminals rather than splicing into the wires. I've done this and it works a treat

Oh and you can also mod your hazard switch if you don't want to use resistors on the wires

just done some math, gonna need a 6ohm resistor capable of at least 25w, probably 50w to be on the safe side.

is it not easier to just add in between the wires? I believe it is just when you indicate with LED bulbs and dont have resistors they flash as if one is blown

do you have any pics of the ones you did?

Trouble is with adding the resistor to the wires is that you have to add them across the positive and negative so you'll have to pull the covering off the loom to get to them.

Yeah it just flashes quicker or worst case not at all. All of my bulbs are LEDs now so I had to add a resistor as well as modding my hazard switch

I'll get a pic later
