Update:

Took it to the phirm today - good bunch of lads and really helpful!
Found that the turbo outlet piped was hanging off! The forge pipe looks like it was cut just a little too short!

Luckily my bro replaced his mk4 engine not too long ago so I stole his pipe.

It must has been placed on there wrong in the first place as I'm now getting 21 psi as apposed to 20.

They also advised me to change the forge splitter valve to the forge 007... Whorls everyone else agree?

Cheers

Worth going for the the recirculating valve then? Will it boost performance atall? I know these splitter run at something like 80% recirc 20% atmospheric :s

It apparently helps between gear changes as you can get a slight hesitation with the splitter

I've now stiffend the spring up and it's running at a full on recirc valve - holding boost even more now -

I've done a bit of reading on the split r valve and I can't really see why it should perform any differently than the 007p if its running on full recirc. I guess the the fact you have to adjust the splitter makes the 007p simple

I've also decided to modify the pcv and run a catch can - just want to remove all those pipes! Really interested to see if I have any leaks there - as my boost is peaking but the rapidly decreases until I change gear

Just ordered the following

42 draft stealth catch can - http://www.awesomegti.com/car/vw/golfmk4/42-draft-stealth-oil-catch-can-golf-mk2-mk3-mk4 - this once come with 19mm connectors so really happy that I didn't have to order it from overseas!

Also ordered

6 x new hose clamps
2 x meters of 19mm ID oil resistant hose
2 x 19mm straight connectors
1 x plastic t peice

I think that's all I need for this set up... I'll take a few photos once its done :)

boost decreases as the revs increase through the gears...

Yes of course - sorry that wasn't explained very well - it just not boosting like it did when I picked it up. I thought if I was going to keep it for a few years I'd make this mod now to simplify things like maitience ink the future. Plus the section jet jump keeps falling apart :s really annoying

Haha! Luckily pats guide is with the AUM - so pretty lucky there!

I'm still a bit sceptical of taking the pcv vacle out completely. It won't effect MOTs for sure?
