Loss of PSI - fixed + update!!
« on: 20 December 2012, 08:49 »
Hello Guys,

I've just noticed a small loss of PSI on my mk4.

It used to peak at 19 - 20 and sit @ 15 psi however yesterday I noticed it only peaked at 15 and drops to 10-12...

I'm a little concerned.... The car has the ECS N75 valve on.. can anyone think of any reasons why it would suddenly drop PSI?

Would it be due to the weather etc?

Cheers

Just been on the phone to Storm Developments. i told him both ym ABS and Traction Control lights popped on the other day and he said it sounds liek the MAF is faulty. He's advised to unplug the MAF and see if the car boosts back to it's original reading of 20 psi.

If not i'll have to get it down to Storms so they can plug her in....

If you run with the MAF sensor unplugged it won't hit any more than about 6psi as it will run on set "get you home" values

oh right... I was told by Carl from Revo and the fella from Storm to unplug the MAF...

what's the quickest way of seeing if it's the MAF - I'm due to take it to "The Phirm" tomorrow if nothing comes of this...

VAG COM is the only way really, you can compare requested and actual boost values then

okay mate - thanks for that.  I'm taking it to "the Phirm" in Hartly, hopefully they can diagnose the problem.

I've heared a lot of people saying the ECS n75 valves are no good - might be worth swapping for a standard valve do you think?

Might be worth a go. Has it happened since you fitted the valve?

I purchased the car with the valve already on. The fella said it boosted his initial boost peak by 3 psi.

I hadboth the ABs and TC light come on the other day that i've read do indicate the MAF is on it's way out. They ahve now gone out then - but this problem has only occured since yesterday - like someone has remvoed the stage 2 remap completly.

So remvoing the MAF plug won't really help me out at all?

Usually taking the plug off is a way of testing the MAF if it's running really lumpy etc. In your case I think the only real way to see what's happening is some real time logs on VAG COM. MAF and boost values would be a good place to start
