There are many contributing factors to the efficiency of a charge cooler, piping as you suggest is one of them. The efficiency of a charge cooler in short does make a difference, yes. Whether the difference can be discerned on the road is another matter.

From what I have seen, an 'ebay front mount intercooler' is not a direct bolt on and requires some bodging - not talking about the bumper. The piping is horrid and besides the efficiency of the piping route is concerned, the fitment is also another issue.

In short it just depends on your requirements, the THS kit strikes me as being the most friendly to fit on the drive. Larger single pass by premium manufacturers may provide a more efficient design but proves more problematic to fit and requires the bumper to be trimmed more. Whilst 'ebay front mount intercooler' will require further fiddling around. This is partly reflected in the pricing of the kits.

By lookin at te eBay "complete" kits
Your looking at the WRong thing as the pipe work is terrible
You want the toyosport type b core for £80 and ten the pipe work bought desperately following prawns guide.
The reason ths and forge do their fmi that way is because as said it utilises standard pipe work etc

R-tech custom remap - k04-001- 250bhp/311ftlb

"Project track car" has begun

argh.

Factory bought kits are only twin pass to keey the engine bays looking stock and utilise the OEM charge pipe, this makes N75 and DV fitting much more simple.

The forge kit is OK, but hugely expensive, and still retains the stock charge pipe and pancake.

The THS kit is better, and replaces the pancake pipe, but it's still a twin pass, and still uses the stock charge pipe, so no good for anything with a turbo swap above a ko3S, or a high power ko3 hybrid that needs 2.5'' pipework.

The toyosports type B cooler is what you make of it - potentially fantastic, potentially fail-tastic. Depends on your level of skill to be honest!

The complete toyosports kit with custom pipework can be done for less than £250, and will absolutely 100% out perform the Forge or THS coolers, but naturally, it is more work to fit it, and you need to work out what bends / pipes you need then make it all fit, it's not an off the shelf kit at all, it's  alist of parts bought from different places.

THS worked fine for me, but going bigger/more efficient on this build.

Ideal is someone wants something for a tuned k03s (cant comment on k04, but nick ran his at 300bhp)

Is it possible to fit the Toyosports intercooler behind a standard bumper ?

I know a fair amount of chopping is required but will it end up really obvious  ? Grills still fit ?

Any pictures ? ;)
