Thanks Mr GTD

What is PCD & ET ?

PCD - Pitch Circle Diameter - basically the stud or hole spacing for the wheel bolts.

ET - offset (either plus or minus) in mm from the imaginary centreline of the alloy wheel when looking at it in section. Affects how far in or out they stick from the hub, and is expressed along with the rim width. I.e. 8J ET 35 (8" wide rim, with a positive offset of 35mm)

I'm a chef so know all about frying pans and so on so you keep me right on wheels thanks
Rimstyle where I'm getting the BBS know the fitment for the mark 7 have said the BBS RX 17 X 7.5 will fit the SE model.

I originally wanted to fit my Vancouver’s 18’s from the GTI however the VW dealer told me the would stick out of the wheel arch a wee bit so are not good for my model just what you are explaining to me. That’s why I went for the 17 BBS

Vancouvers are ET51 and only 7.5" wide. I doubt they'd stick out of the wheels arch.

It has to be remembered that dealers will always tell you that parts from another model won't fit. They base their information on the part numbers not matching up, not on the fact that they have tried and found out for real.

There are a few exceptions of course, but on the whole car salesmen might as well be selling cheese. They know bugger all about cars and have no enthusiasm real towards them.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Thanks for that now the excitement is kicking in . In the question & answer section it say’s takes up to 4 weeks to reach the UK Port. Would be fantastic to get the Golf on the 1st of March fingers crossed.

When I put the order in it took around 10 days for it to reach ‘section process’
From there around another 10 days to see the robot working. The robot has been working since around December the 6th until today so it gives you an idea how long for your mum’s Golf

Your 100% correct. When the SE was ordered the salesman was rattling on what a great 1.4 I was getting, salesman going on about the cylinders shutting down. Told him that engine is only in the GT. In other words I knew a lot more than him. EVO on here is the exception you can tell he is an enthusiast who you would like to deal with.
