I think there's been a bit of cut-and-paste...

In the 'comfort' section in the review:

http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/volkswagen/golf/hatchback/review

" The GTI, with its lower and stiffer suspension, is a sportier machine but still feels more at home on public roads than a race track. "

So you heard it here first. The Mk7 GTI has been road-tested by car buyer!

(I think not!)

Popped into the dealer today where  SE & GT models were on show.
First impressions were same same but different on the skin , looks more like an up-date than a new model. Inside dose take a leap forward it's just so much smarter the way the centre console leans towards the driver while materials are top notch. Honestly could not feel much difference in size elbow or head hight. Numbers don't lie though so it must be larger. To look at the GT dash is smart , however I preferred the aluminium on the centre console of the SE simply because it's more practical to keep clean than the piano black.
Can fully understand why someone would walk away underwhelmed. The salesman and motoring critics say the biggest leap forward is in the interior which I agree with and the driving experience , have not tried it yet on the road though can drive the mark 7 in GT form on Saturday.

Why change a winning formula ? Well it would have been nice to see the body given a wee bit more flair
still it's a Golf and is more up market inside so if it's as good to drive as we are told and read then I will be more than happy.

I looked at at GT 2.0TDI today.

Mostly positive, but I thought the internal door strip above the open handle was cheap and the centre console plastic is black and shiny, this will need constant dusting and care not to stratch.

Otherwise, it felt a slight improvement in the MK6 cabin, the seats are great.
Now = 2011 MK6 GTI - Reflex Silver
Past = 2006 MK5 GTI - Tornado Red and Solid Black

The VW site where you track your order had the wee robot building my car back on the 6th of December. It said your car will be built in the next four weeks. Would think it’s in a factory compound now waiting delivery. Anyone know how long it takes from transit to dealer?
Have now settled for a set of 17’ BBS RX which are on a good deal at the moment. While the SE alloys look quite good feel they just look a wee bit small in the wheel arches.

When my GTD reached the uk it took 4-5 days to reach the dealers so not long at all really, once yours has reached the UK it will probably sit in the compound until transport has been arrange for yours and others cars...but in my experience it didn't take long at all..
