As my Golf (and my Passat) are now more than 17 years old, I found that my trusty insurance company now want an arm and a leg for coverage (over £200).
I don't have any coverage at the moment and my daily commute is littered with vehicles of a much younger age stranded by the side of the road...BMW's more common than others for some reason.

After going over a serious pothole I was lucky and continued on, but the vehicle behind me did not..Could have easily been me...
I have been searching around for a good deal, but found most of the companies will tow you to the nearest garage.
I prefer to have the car towed home as garage repairs will be expensive, but after I talked with them over the phone, they always tow to the nearest garage..or the recovery guy will tow it to their garage, regardless of the time and say they will fix it ASAP.
I have looked on the websites and AA offer nationwide recovery plus they cover repairs at the garage (£35 pound deductible) for about £150. Seems very piece of mind, but quite expensive. or national recovery for £80.
Other companies offer roadside assistance and recovery to a garage for about £40-60. First Call GB seem the cheapest..at over 40, I
Just wondering what you guys yourselves have and what is the best option.
I realise that many banks now offer this...so maybe I will look into it with Lloyds...
But in the meantime it would be good to get some advice..
Thanks!
And yes I have used the search option,,but it was not really useful..
