Washing my car today and the kickplate came off revealing this  :undecided:

Looks like someone even tried bodging it with filler with the kick plate still on! Anyway had a good poke around and its still completely solid so just going to grind out the rust, treat it, seal it, and paint it. Just stuck the plate back on for now and will deal with it next week!

Started to put my wheels on yesterday, but the spokes foul on the brake calipers on the front. Only very very slightly, have ordered some 5mm flat spacers which should be here tomorrow then can get all the wheels on. Can't be bothered to wait til my springs show up even if it does look a little funky with a bit of stretch at standard height!

Just been on the phone with EuroPerformanceDirect, my springs still haven't arrived with them.  They're expecting another shipment from H&R Friday but it still hasn't been confirmed my springs will be in there! So at the very earliest I'm looking at next Monday for delivery, a whole 4 weeks after ordering. Not particularly happy as the website said they were ready to ship in 1-2 days!

Spacers arrived today  Had originally ordered some universal jobbies for £5 but upon recieving them thought better of it, as they were shockingly bad. So bought some decent quality TPI 5mm spacers with the correct centre bore. Going to fit my wheels if the rain holds off for the next few hours!

Just had my water pump, thermostat, thermostat cover and radiator elbow joint replaced, so fingers crossed that's the end of my water leak.

On a much better note, just got a genuine eBay bargain. A complete set of 3dr mulberry VR6 Highline leathers, in awesome condition, with door cards and heating loom, £92!

Well started putting the interior in, removing the rear door cards meant removing the door sill trim, had a good look at the rust on the inner sill and it looks to be very minor and just surface rust. The bodge job of covering it has made it look a lot worse than it really is. Ran out of light yesterday so going to spend my lunch hour today getting the front seats in.

A few bits of bad news though....5mm spacers didn't cut it. So have bought some 8mm. This will give me an ET of 17 on the front so expecting to have to massage the arches slightly with a hammer lol.

Secondly it started misfiring and cutting out on the way to work today. Called the AA but they took forever to come and managed to get it running enough to get to work, think the rotor arm and dizz cap are knackered. Have also ordered some new HT leads too. If that doesn't fix it, next on the agenda will be coil and ECU relay!

Bloody cars!

Finally got around to ordering some amber LED indicator bulbs and a new flasher relay so they don't flash fast, so installed my new all red rear lights.

Also took off the rear "Golf GTI" badge ans replaced with an Anniversary red one.

Going to fit my shocks at the weekend, just waiting on some spring plates to come into my local dealer. For some reason H&R spec all their Mk3 springs with the larger pig tail and mine being a later model has the smaller ones.

Fitted my rear shocks yesterday, still waiting on the front spring caps from VW. Everything went nice and smoothly, thanks to my £10 eBay 1/2" drive extendable ratchet handle lol!

Old shocks off.

New shocks built up. Had to drill out the spring cap and also the top retaining washer as the threaded shaft is larger on the FK shocks.

Shocks on.

This is how it sat just after lowering back down to the ground.

And finally after a little drive around. This is with nothing in the boot except the spare wheel and I think it sits pretty nicely. Tyre is ever so close to scrubbing so arches will need to be rolled only very slightly.
