Light still on whenb I set off this morning then went out after a couple of mile

VW Roadside Assistance phoned this morning - will be with me in a couple of hours to look at it - hopefully they will diagnose/recommend the pressure sensor replacement.

Update to follow....

VWRA have been out. I mentioned the potential faulty sensor.

Tech. looked at the car and he has diagnosed a potential broken wiring loom located between the engine and the gear box.

He said that when the looms were installed at the factory, some were secured incorrectly, weakening/breaking the wires  hence the intermittent and illogical fault I've been getting.

Hire car sorted and car is going to the dealers this PM - here's hoping that VW will honour the warranty as this episode started in October when it was still in warranty.

On a side note, It'll be fun driving a car without the winter tyres on in this weather

That's my thinking too!

I hope it's just a case of unplug and replace loom and not too much dismantling?

If VW have shipped the part today I might have the car back tomorrow/Thursday.

Here's hoping!

Had a phone call last night to say the car was ready to collect

"Wiring loom sorted?"
"No. We found a fault on the pressure sensor and we've replaced it" [Part is G450 Pressure Sensor]

All under warranty as I had flagged it whilst it was still in warranty.

So, 4th time lucky but smacks of a SWAT team entering a building and not seeing the terrorist hiding under the bed and telling everyone the room is clear  :lipsrsealed:

Rhyso and Doc - can you go and work with VW to help them understand what checking/diagnosis really means?

Looking forward to some untarnished driving now :)

Could be a sensor thats gone wrong  :undecided:  they usually fail which then stops the DPF being regened and then it gets clogged completely.

Top tip right there.

I've not seen a dpf light on a CR engined vehicle ever

I have a 09 plate CR engined GT140 TDi that had the Engine Pressure Sensor fail at about 70k miles, with the resulting DPF light on (not flashing; stayed lit). Dealer suspected this part straight away, and stated VW would most likely pay for the part (despite warranty expired) as was 'not an uncommon occurrence."

Sure enough; once they'd diagnosed and replaced it, VW confirmed they'd chip in: so didn;t cost me much.

At the time light first came on; I queried whether I should stop driving it immediately, or was it OK to drive it before they could change it (from memory a couple of days later). They said as long as not flashing it's OK; but if flashing starts; stop and get it towed by RAC. I remember it felt a little rough (but not too much) but was back to normal 'smoothness' upon part changed.

Don't know if that helps?
sssh; it's 'only a diesel'; but i love it!

MK6 GT140 TDi; DBP; Vancouvers; RNS510-D; Convenience pack; Storage pack; Philips Extreme Vision dipped bulbs; blue vision sidelights; red footwell lights; Yeti tips; GTD pedals; GTD gear lever; 'R' mats; RVC; Premium Bluetooth and some TLC.
