As it happens I was speaking to an ex Audi technician last week and he was saying about DPF, apparently 3k on motorway for 3-5miles should clear it out, I don't know how true that is, strumbled on the topic in new posts and just thought I'd add to it

Cheers for this. Yes, handbook says 70km/h in 4th for 5 miles.

Problem I've got is that I got in the car this morning and drive out of the garage (hadn't been drive since light came on last night). Got to end of (short) drive and noticed that the light wasn't on! Hasn't come back on after 30 miles of driving today either.

Rang the garage this PM - haven't been able to book in as their systems are down but they have all the details and will ring me tomorrow - probably will be with them for a full day then back again when the part they need is on back order

Rang the dealer this AM to be told earliest they can book me in is 23rd October !!!

Fuel light came on today saying 35 miles ot go - I've only done 350 so there is definitely something up

Told them with the problem I'm not prepared to wait - service manager ringing me back soon-ish

Aren't there any other dealers in your area that can help deal with it earlier than this, as the waiting time is taking the p*ss...?

Call breakdown, they will come out and scan it. Tell them it's doing really poor fuel economy and I'm sure VW UK will arrange hire cars if needed. I assume that's what the long wait is from the dealership

I'm going to ring another one tomorrow.  Trouble is all local to me bar one are Sytner and they are all this bad!

He did offer me Harrogate VW on Monday - I replied that I'm not driving 30 miles when I have a dealership within 8 miles of me

Might try that tomorrow when I have spoken to the independent near me.

G450 pressure sensor is the usual one to go. Fairly inexpensive part (£50-ish) and easy to fit in 10-20 minutes depending on which way round the factory monkeys left the spring clips  Then clear the fault codes and adapt the new sensor to the ecu. If the glowplug light starts to flash and the car goes in to limp mode then you'll need to run through the forced emergency regen procedure too.

Cheers topher. Cars still in warranty so hoping they'll sort it but will give them some guidance !!

In the 2.5 years I've had mine my DPF light has never come on though I've heard the fan running a couple of times after I switch of which generally means it doing a regen. I only do short journeys but I give it a blast up the motorway now and then.

If you have VCDS you can check the ash content and see when it last did a regen.

You can do a Diesel Particle Filter Emergency Regeneration
