1.8t anniversary best induction kit and simple dv Q
« on: 27 September 2012, 23:09 »
hi guys

ive had a search and couldnt seem to find a spot on answer.

for the best sound and a increase in umpf is the k+n typhoon filter kit the best or what?

i know the 007p dv the best. but if wanting to have abit more noise can anything be done without sounding like a scobbie or having to buy the £170 forge blow off valve/splitter/ recirc valve?

and are the ebay intercoolers ok for 240bhp ish?

thats it for now

You'll find lots of info on DV and induction kits on the search. But as for wanting some noise and not scoobie style go for a 007p or 008 and an induction kit/ turbo back exhaust and you'll hear the air dumping.

I have the 008 and I can hear it some times without mods, but rarely.

welcome!!

think k+n filters have to be oiled so avoid these as they will break the maf, so go for a sponge/cotton filter like pipercross or similar.

with a cai you will hear a rec dump really loud (not as loud as a scooby thou) sounds nice

also dont go with a cheap ebay intercooler as you will be replacing it for a much better one when you have the bug for more power so do yourself a favour and buy a decient one now

Hi! I use a baileys recirc valve, louder then the 007p (even without the CAI) and runs sweet as. I would be very careful about using a cold air feed in winter, suck up any water and your gonna be looking a bent valves (been there done that)
Will always love my mk4 but she had to go...225 Quattro TT in its place....but its still black (she lives on in spirit!)

Cheers for advice. I wont be after any more umpf than an stage 2 map to 240ish. I cant warrant the700 price tag for the forge one. And more power would be long after.  K&n are defo oilled so same issue as my current motor. Oil+mafs no likey.

I had a 007p on my audi a4 1.8t and it was louder than stock for sure just would like a tad more without sounding silly.

I need to get all this right first time round as once i get tge car im going to fit a cat back with decat and a performance manifold. Then a fmic along with a uprated dv and air filter then straight to mapping

RUBBISH.
how is it possible for a CAI to suck up water and travel past the turbo without damaging the turbo all the way through the charge pipes (thats a long way) up to the throttle body into the inlet and into the engine?

if a CAI sucked up enough water to cause damaged then you got to get it past the turbo, as soon as the water hits the turbo the turbo would stall and you would lose all pressure in the pipes and the water couldn't travel any further.

sorry ashmond but if you ask me its a myth.

if you go through very deep puddles there is a chance of sucking up some water if the cai is sat to low as for causing damage i dont know but it has happenened on my mates type r and bent the valves as he was using a similar cai to the mk4 setup
