Your example from the net is giving extreme effects:
Stalling when pulling away may be a problem with heavy car with a really light flywheel.
Losing some engine braking does happen but use your brakes for braking they are cheaper to replace than your clutch.
I don't think you'll be doing donuts in your Golf to impress the ladies so I wouldn't bother about this.
A lightened flywheel on a 16v Golf is a nice upgrade and worth every penny (in my opinion) but if you can't do the work yourself it's going to cost you to have the gearbox and clutch removed, the flywheel removed, and then the parts replaced. If you have any sense you will have the clutch replaced at the same time. Budget for £70+ for the flywheel, £100 for the clutch, £150 to £250 for the labour.
