My very first car when I passed my test was a 1981 'X reg' Mk1 Golf C 1.3 had it a few years then went over to vauxhall for about 7 years, it was my Seat Leon that convinced me to return to vag cars.

My first VW is my only VW, would buy another? Yeah probably but I do hate how popular they are in the modified world...I'd rather a Volvo...:(

my first vw was a mk2/3 polo 86c jobby 94 1.3 i loved it , was so simple to maintain and to mod . sold it on for a 6n 1.4 which didnt have the character of the old polo . so got another 94 polo 1.0L 4 speed . slow as anything but it was so amazing ! , then i got my mk3 golf 1.4 and i loved it to every inch untill i sold it to get a grande punto 1.9tdi . couldnt connect with that so i had my dads xj8 off him . the fuel cost destroyed my bank balance so i came back to a 1.8 mk3 which i love to pieces (:

I was lucky enough to buy my first Golf from new. It was a Y reg reflex silver Golf GTI MKIV 2.0 8V.

Lovely motor, but not that fast. Still have a soft spot for them when I see one.

My 1st VW was this 1.8 GL 4+E I bought from a scrapyard for £75. Drove it straight to an MOT where it passed with NO advisories!!!

Then after I bought an early GTI 8v with a 1.9 TSR lump in it my mate had the gold one (with a lovely mint biscuit interior), went through 3 gearboxes, then scrapped it  little did we know just how sought after that interior would be now!!
Since then I've had alsorts of other dubs, and I'm now on mk2 golf number 10 and 11
